Captions vs quso.ai

Buy quso.ai if you record long-form and want clipping, planning and publishing on one invoice. Buy Captions if the clips exist, you finish them on a phone, and you want generative b-roll and AI actors in the same app. Two lines to read first: quso’s free plan caps renders at 720p with 7-day data retention, and the Captions pricing page states its prices and features reflect iOS plans only.

Disclosure: this page is published by Kineo, which is not one of the two tools compared here and does not compete with either on the job they do. There is a short, clearly labelled note about Kineo at the bottom. Everything above it is written as if we had nothing at stake, because on this comparison we do not.

The verdict

One publishes for you and one does not publish at all

quso.ai lists TikTok publishing even on the free tier and publishing to 6 platforms from Lite at $29/month, or $19 billed annually, with a Content Planner from Essential at $39, or $26. Captions has no scheduling or publishing layer on its pricing page. If distribution is half your problem, only one side of this comparison addresses it.

The free tiers are both real and both crippled in a documented way

quso Free: 75 credits a month, renders capped at 720p, chapters and short videos, TikTok publishing, CutMagic, 7-day data retention. Captions Free: basic editing and one caption template, no AI credits, no generative AI features at all. One gives you the workflow at a resolution you would not publish; the other gives you the shell of an editor and none of the AI.

Neither one states a watermark policy

This is the rare pair where both sides are blank. quso.ai’s pricing page does not state a watermark policy in what we could read, and neither does Captions’. We are not going to fill either gap with a guess. If clean output matters — and on a monetised channel it does — ask both before subscribing.

Storage is a line item on one side and unmentioned on the other

quso quotes 10GB on Lite, 25GB on Essential and 75GB on Growth at $49/month, or $33 annually. Captions quotes credits — 500 on Max at $24.99, up to 5,600 on Scale 4x — and no storage allowance we could read. If you keep a working archive, that is a difference you will feel over a year.

Side by side

Every figure below was read off each vendor’s own pricing page on July 26, 2026. Where a tier table did not resolve to readable prices, the cell says so rather than guessing — a wrong competitor price is worse than no price at all.

Which one you should pick

Pick Captions if…

  • The clips already exist and finishing them on a phone is the workflow.
  • You want generative b-roll, images, video and voiceover in the editor — from Max at $24.99/month.
  • AI actors and digital twins are part of what you are making.
  • Caption styling is a differentiator in your niche: 100+ templates, curated AI Edit styles.
  • A chat-based editor suits you better than a template picker or a planner.

Pick quso.ai if…

  • You record long-form and need it clipped, then posted.
  • You want one bill covering clipping, an advanced editor, a Content Planner and publishing to 6 platforms.
  • Unlimited 1080p clips from the entry paid tier beats watching a credit balance.
  • AI filler and silence removal matter — those arrive at Essential, $39/month or $26 annually.
  • You want a Brand Kit and templates without an enterprise conversation: Growth at $49, or $33 annually.

The differences that actually matter

Two published caveats, one on each side

Captions states "All prices displayed in USD. Features and prices reflect iOS plans only", which means the tiers we verified may not be what a desktop or Android buyer is offered. quso.ai retains free-plan data for 7 days and caps free renders at 720p. Neither is a flaw exactly; both are the kind of thing you want to know before, not after.

What each does with your source audio

quso.ai clips reuse the audio already in your recording. Captions lists generative voiceover on paid tiers. If you want narration you did not record, quso has no path to it and Captions charges $24.99/month for one.

Metering: credits that mean clips, credits that mean generations

quso Free is 75 credits a month and its paid tiers switch to unlimited 1080p clips from Lite up — the credit system largely disappears once you pay. Captions stays credit-metered all the way up, from 500 to 5,600. One product removes the meter when you subscribe; the other makes the meter the product.

The rename is worth knowing for your own research

quso.ai is what vidyo.ai became — requesting vidyo.ai/pricing returns a 302 redirect to quso.ai/pricing, confirmed on July 26, 2026. Older reviews describing vidyo.ai pricing are describing a product that has since moved. Check the date on anything you read about it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Captions or quso.ai cheaper?

Captions Max at $24.99/month against quso Lite at $29/month, or $19/month billed annually — so Captions is cheaper monthly and quso is cheaper on a year. Both read from their own pricing pages on July 26, 2026, and the Captions page did not list an annual rate in what we could read.

Does quso.ai have a free plan?

Yes: 75 credits a month, renders capped at 720p, chapters and short videos, TikTok publishing, CutMagic, and 7-day data retention. The 720p ceiling makes it an evaluation tier rather than a production one.

Can Captions publish to TikTok or YouTube for me?

Its pricing page does not list publishing or scheduling in what we could read. quso.ai does — TikTok on the free tier, 6 platforms from Lite up, with a Content Planner from Essential.

Do either of them watermark the output?

Neither pricing page states a watermark policy in what we could read. That is unusual on both sides and it is the single question we would resolve with support before paying either of them.

Which one works without a long video?

Captions, mostly — it is built around a clip you bring, but its generative features from Max up can produce footage, voiceover and images. quso.ai’s clipping half is built specifically around turning long videos into short-form clips and has nothing to operate on without one.

One disclosed third option

Disclosure: Kineo publishes this page and is neither tool above. It has no scheduler, no phone app and no editor — it turns one typed topic into a finished faceless 9:16 Short. Mentioned once, at the end, because "I have nothing to clip and nothing to style" is a real answer to this comparison and neither product above covers it.
