Pictory vs quso.ai

Buy Pictory if your raw material is written and you have nothing filmed. Buy quso.ai if you record long-form and want clipping, planning and publishing on one invoice. They cost the same at entry — $29/month, or $25 and $19 respectively on annual billing — and they are not substitutes at any price.

Disclosure: this page is published by Kineo, which is not one of the two tools compared here and does not compete with either on the job they do. There is a short, clearly labelled note about Kineo at the bottom. Everything above it is written as if we had nothing at stake, because on this comparison we do not.

The verdict

Same $29 entry, opposite prerequisites

Pictory Starter is $29/month, or $25 annually, and needs text — a script, a URL or a document. quso Lite is $29/month, or $19 annually, and needs a long recording to clip. Identical sticker price, and which one is usable depends entirely on what is already on your hard drive.

Only one of them publishes

quso lists TikTok publishing on the free tier and publishing to 6 platforms from Lite up, with a Content Planner from Essential at $39/month or $26 annually. Pictory hands you the file. If posting is a real cost centre, that is an entire job one product does and the other does not.

Only one of them has a permanently free plan

quso Free gives 75 credits a month, renders capped at 720p, chapters and short videos, TikTok publishing, CutMagic and 7-day data retention. Pictory lists a 14-day free trial on every tier and no permanently free plan. If your evaluation might stall for a month, that difference matters more than the annual discount.

The metering models are minutes against unlimited clips

Pictory sells video minutes: 200 a month on Starter, 600 on Professional at $59 or $35 annually, 1,800 on Team at $199 or $119. quso sells unlimited 1080p clips from Lite up, metering storage instead — 10GB, 25GB, 75GB. Pictory’s ceiling is your output; quso’s is your archive.

Which one you should pick

Pick Pictory if…

  • Your input is written material and there is no footage.
  • You want an AI voiceover generated from the text rather than reusing recorded audio.
  • You need more than one aspect ratio from the same source.
  • You publish in volume: 200 video minutes a month at Starter, 600 at Professional, 1,800 on Team.
  • You want a stated no-watermark policy on paid plans.

Pick quso.ai if…

  • You record long-form and need it clipped before it can be posted.
  • You want publishing to 6 platforms and a Content Planner on the same bill.
  • Unlimited 1080p clips from the entry paid tier suits your volume.
  • You want a free tier you can keep indefinitely, and 720p is acceptable while evaluating.
  • AI filler and silence removal matter — Essential at $39/month, or $26 annually.

The differences that actually matter

Watermark: stated on one side, blank on the other

Pictory states no watermark on paid plans. quso.ai’s pricing page does not state a watermark policy in what we could read. Since quso is the one with a permanently free tier you might run on for months, that is exactly where the unanswered question costs you — resolve it with them before you publish anything from it.

Where the visuals come from, and whose voice

Pictory matches built-in stock visuals to your text and generates an AI voiceover. quso clips reuse your own footage and your own recorded audio. One manufactures a video about a topic; the other extracts a video from an event that happened. Those are different products for different content.

The rename is a research hazard

quso.ai is what vidyo.ai became — vidyo.ai/pricing returns a 302 redirect to quso.ai/pricing, confirmed on July 26, 2026. Anything comparing "Pictory vs vidyo.ai" predates the current tiers. Every quso figure here came from quso.ai’s own live page on that date.

Long-video handling is a tier gate on one side and the whole product on the other

Pictory adds long-video input only from Professional at $59/month, or $35 annually. quso is built around long video from the free tier up. If you want both text-to-video and long-video handling from Pictory, that is the $59 tier, not the $29 one.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pictory or quso.ai cheaper?

They match at $29/month monthly. On annual billing quso Lite is $19/month against Pictory Starter at $25/month, so quso is cheaper on a year. Both read from their own pricing pages on July 26, 2026.

Does Pictory have a free plan?

No permanently free plan is listed — a 14-day free trial appears on every tier, checked on July 26, 2026. quso.ai does have one: 75 credits a month at 720p with 7-day data retention.

Can quso.ai make a video from an article?

Its clipping half is built around long videos. Essential and above add external content support, but the product’s premise is a source recording rather than a document. Turning an article into video is Pictory’s specific input.

Which one will post the video for me?

quso.ai — TikTok on the free tier, 6 platforms from Lite up, with a Content Planner from Essential. Pictory does not publish on your behalf.

How many Shorts a month do I get on each entry plan?

Pictory Starter: 200 video minutes a month, which at 35 seconds a Short is well over a hundred. quso Lite: unlimited 1080p clips, bounded in practice by how much source video you have and by 10GB of storage.

One disclosed third option

Disclosure: Kineo publishes this comparison and is neither tool above. It writes the script itself from a typed topic, then narrates and renders a 9:16 Short — so it starts one step earlier than Pictory and needs none of the footage quso requires. Mentioned once, at the end, and it does not publish for you either.
